Bal Bhawan boys triumph
Bal Bhawan, Dwarka, clinched the 2nd B.K. Gupta inter-school cricket tournament title in convincing fashion registering an eight-wicket win over Ryan International School in the capital on Wednesday.
The Dwarka team were dominant througout excelling in all the departments of the game. Batting first, Ryan International School were bowled out for 84 in 19 overs.
Ryan International batsmen found it hard to score runs against incisive spells by the opposition bowlers. Rohit Tyagi (4/21) was the top pick among the Bal Bhawan bowlers and was ably assisted by Gupil Rai (2/19). Arpan Uppal (25) was the only batsman who made some contribution for Ryan International School.
Rai, who has enjoyed a fantastic run throughout the tournament with the bat and the ball, top-scored for Bal Bhawan with 38. The eventual champions chased down the target in 15 overs for the title.
The winners took home a cash award of `1 lakh apart from the trophy while the runners-up earned `50,000. Rai was adjudged the man of the series while teammate Rajat Gaur, with a tournament tally of 271 runs, was named the best batsman.
