Explosive India opener Virender Sehwag said here Tuesday that their aim is to win the Test series against England, beginning Nov 15.

"Our aim is to play well and win the series. England are a good side but so are we. I think it will be a tough series for both of us," said Sehwag on the sidelines of the launch of a cricket bat collection named after him.

Sehwag also declared that they are not here for avenging their humiliating 0-4 washout last year against the same opposition in England.

"We are not here for revenge. All this vengeance etc. is all due to media hype. We are concentrating on playing well and winning for the team and country."

India will play four Test matches in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Kolkata and Nagpur.

The 34-year-old scored a century Monday for Delhi against Uttar Pradesh in a Ranji Trophy tie, in spite of a finger injury.

Commenting on his form and performance, he said: "I am happy to score the century. Whether I am back in form or not, is not for me to decide but I thought I played well enough."

"And as for the condition of my finger, it is getting better."

Sehwag will also complete a century of Test matches, currently sitting pretty on 98.

"It was my dream to play for my country. Since the time I achieved that, my next dream has been to perform well and play 100 Tests for India. I am very happy that moment is coming soon."

He also congratulated batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar, who is to be conferred the Order of Australia Tuesday in Mumbai.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
