2 more injury blows to Indian team in Britain
Halfway into the Test leg of their tour of England, India are running out of players they can put on the field.
Although opener Virender Sehwag will be a welcome addition as Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s men pick up the pieces ahead of the third Test at Edgbaston beginning on August 10, they will be without the services of Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh, both injured during India’s 319-run loss in the second Test at Nottingham.
Yuvraj will be out for at least four weeks, having fractured his left index finger on the fourth day at Trent Bridge while facing up to a bouncer from Tim Bresnan. Harbhajan has been sidelined with a Grade I abdominal muscle strain which will take three weeks to heal.
The fresh set of injuries effectively ends the duo’s tour, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India have named Virat Kohli and Pragyan Ojha as their replacements.
