Rs 14-cr/year bill to guard Maya statues
Lucknow, Jan. 28: The Mayawati government tabled a bill in the state Assembly on Thursday on setting up a special security force to guard monuments, parks and statues built in Lucknow and Noida in memory of dalit icons. An estimated Rs 14 crores will be spent on it annually.
The proposed force will guard monuments such as Dr Ambedkar Samajik Parivartan Sthal, Dr Ambedkar Vihar, Samajik Parivartan Pratik Sthal, Kanshi Ram Smarak Sthal, Kanshi Ram Harit Sthal, Ramabai Ambedkar Maidan, Buddha Vihar Shanti Upvan, Smriti Upvan, 13 Mall Avenue and Noida-based Samata Mulak Sthal.
The 1,000-strong force will be headed by the DGP and its personnel, who will not have the right to form unions, will not be used for any other purpose. The areas in which such monuments are located will be designated as special zones.
