Rathore medal is taken back

Chandigarh, April 23: Four months after his conviction for molesting teenage schoolgirl Ruchika Girhotra, former Haryana director-general of police S.P.S. Rathore faced further humiliation in being stripped of the President’s Police Medal awarded to him in 1985.

Physically reclaimed by a woman police officer from the former DGP’s Panchkula residence Thursday evening, the medal has been withdrawn in pursuance of an official notification issued by the President of India’s secretariat on March 11 alongside instructions from the ministry of home affairs.
