IPL shift: MP writes to Pawar
New Delhi, Feb. 17: Rajya Sabha member V. Hanumantha Rao has written to Union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar asking him to intervene in the decision of the IPL governing body to shift the matches out of Andhra Pradesh.
"The IPL governing council has not only shifted the IPL-3 inaugural function from Hyderabad, but also the other matches scheduled to be held in the city and Visakhapatnam. I strongly feel that the shifting of venues is an insult to both Andhra and the Telangana region," Mr Rao said in his letter to Mr Pawar.
Pointing out security concerns in Maharashtra, where the Shiv Sena has threatened not to allow any Australian player to play in the state, the Rajya Sabha member has described the decision to shift the matches as "hasty".
