Gujarat ATS nabs J&K Hizb activist
Ahmedabad, March 14: The Gujarat anti-terrorist squad said here Sunday it had arrested a suspected Srinagar-based Hizbul Mujahideen activist, Bashir Ahmed, for allegedly scouting possible targets for terrorist attacks, including the Isro complex, Ahmedabad railway station and the Akshardham temple, and recruiting youngsters for terror training camps in Pakistan.
ATS chief Ajay Tomar said Bashir was arrested from near Anand town, 60 km from here, late Saturday night on the basis of specific information.
Mr Tomar said that the ATS had received information that a person was involved in suspicious activity in Ahmedabad and nearby areas, after which the police put him under surveillance.
