Chinese intrusions in new LAC areas
New Delhi, Feb. 22: China’s People’s Liberation Army troops continue to intrude into Indian territory across the Line of Actual Control despite strong objections voiced by New Delhi to Beijing at various levels. The intelligence agencies have warned the
government to treat the matter seriously as these incursions were now being reported from newer areas.
A new report states that Chinese soldiers had committed 19 LAC violations in Arunachal Pradesh and the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir in January alone. Intelligence sources said the LAC violations took place near Trig Height and Pangong Tso lake area in the western sector of the Ladakh border last month. Violations had also taken place in the Namkha Chu and Sumdorong Chu areas in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh, the sources added. There was also a recent incursion in East Sikkim.
The report said Chinese forces had installed cameras on their side just 1 km from the LAC, with which they are believed to be keeping a close watch on the activities of Indian security forces along the LAC, the sources said.
