Bangla Army chief to go to Siachen

New Delhi, March 15: The Bangladesh Army Chief, Gen. Mohammed Abdul Mubeen, is scheduled to visit the Indian Army’s Siachen battle school and will also overfly the Siachen glacier during his six-day visit which began on Monday.

The visit to Siachen is likely to take place on Tuesday, sources confirmed. Gen. Mubeen will visit the Siachen base camp as well as Leh and Thoise areas in Ladakh.
The visit assumes tremendous significance given that India has always taken the position that Siachen glacier belongs to it, a position disputed by Pakistan, which has always been uneasy about any military exercise or high-profile visit of foreign military personnel to the area.
