New Delhi , April 25: A bomb scare created panic and chaos at three shopping malls in South Delhi’s Saket area on Sunday afternoon after a television channel reported getting a faxed warning.

The scare led to the evacuation of hundreds of people from the three malls, are particularly crowded on weekends.

Police teams found no bombs after an extensive search. “Police teams and bomb squads were rushed to the three malls immediately,” a police spokesman said. A Hindi news channel claimed it got a fax warning that bombs were planted in Select Citywalk, DLF and Essex malls in Saket. The police, which got the first complaint around 3 pm, said it was trying to trace the person who had sent the fax.
To add to the panic, a jeweller with a shop at Select Citywalk claimed he had noticed an unidentified bag, found later to contain only books.

Undersea link down, Internet to be affected
New Delhi, April 25: High-speed Internet services in India, particularly broadband, might suffer some dislocation in the next few days due to a disruption in the SEA-ME-WE 4 undersea submarine cable network, linking Southeast Asia and Europe, near Italy.
Maintenance work on the undersea cables is likely in the next four days. The project is run by a international 16-company consortium which includes Bharti Airtel and Tata Communications.

Govt is ready to face Opp. LS challenge

April 25: The government is prepared to face a possible trial of strength in the Lok Sabha this week: it is sure neither the BJP-led NDA nor the Left are ready for an early general election. Other parties like the SP, BSP and RJD are likely to help the government by asking their MPs to either abstain or walk out during the vote.
The Opposition’s aim appears to be to show how the government is surviving on a wafer-thin majority, and not actually topple it. This could, however, cause problems for the government in transacting parliamentary business and passing key bills.
