‘God is my boyfriend and my confidant’

I have always been a part of God’s life rather than Him being a part of my life. I consider Him my boyfriend, someone who’s always there to share all the little joys and pains in life. Conversations with Him are part of my daily routine. I speak to Him when I wake up first thing in the morning and it is the last thing I do when I go to sleep at night.

I have always believed that I would not limit myself to remembering Him only in time of need or when I am in distress and I have followed that belief. I think about God on a daily basis to remind myself how blessed I have been in life.

I am quite active on the meditation front too and I am an avid yoga enthusiast. As soon as I wake up, I find myself looking for some space to help me absorb my surroundings. I try taking time out to meditate every day of the week and I have seen the way it has benefitted me in my life as well.

Even when I am working, I try to keep aside at least 15 minutes of personal time every day. These moments are spent thinking about ‘absolutely nothing.’ And trust me, it can work wonders for your entire day.

I strongly believe in the concept of karma and I know that we are accountable for every act that we commit in our lifetime. If I am going through a tough phase, I know that there is a good reason for it.

But I also understand that a good act has the potential to offset the manner in which your destiny takes you forward.

Although I sometimes have the inclination to question God about His decisions for me, I soon end up making peace with Him. For I know, He only has the best in mind for me.

If I had to describe my current state of life, I’d put it as Aal izz well.

I am quite content with the way things have turned out for me. I have found myself stronger on a psychological level. Having participated in shows like Fear Factor — Khatron ke Khiladi, I realise that everything I was afraid of was just in my mind. Today I am a happier person as I have stopped looking for happiness from external sources. I consciously decide to stay in an upbeat and energetic mode and I am awestruck at the way the universe catches and reflects my positive vibes!

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
