Woman held for sending bomb threats
A woman who had sent an email about bomb threats at the residence of chief minister J. Jayalalithaa and a few religious places has been arrested by Srivilliputtur police on Friday night.
Vasantha, 24, an accountant at a private university in Srivilliputhur, Virudhunagar district, had sent the mail from a fictitious id to take revenge on her estranged husband, Nachimuthu, according to sources. Nachimuthu now lives in Thane, Maharashtra.
The mail said that bombs were planted at the chief minister’s residence and the world famous Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai and Andal Temple in Srivilliputtur. Searches were conducted at the three places but the mail turned out to be a hoax.
Srivilliputtur police have registered a complaint against Vasantha under Sections 506, 507, 124 a, 153 a, of the Indian Penal Code.
