Visa services to be resumed from Monday at US consulate
The United States Consulate General here will resume visa services from Monday, it was announced.
The services were suspended since September 14 after Muslim outfits targeted the mission in violent demonstrations against an American video denigrating the Prophet.
The mission announced the resumption of visa services following normalcy in the situation. Consul General Jennifer McIntyre had met the city police commissioner S. George on Thursday seeking protection for the mission, its staff and also the visa seekers coming there.
About 5000 visa applicants had to reschedule their interview dates after the mission announced suspension of services. The mission handles over 1000 applicants per working day.
The USCG here caters to the states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and the Union Territories of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Puducherry and Lakshwadeep Islands.
