Van, 5 cars, parked under Royapuram bridge burnt
As many as five cars and a van were found mysteriously burnt under the Royapuram bridge in the early hours of Wednesday.
On information from the patrol team that saw the vehicles in flames, the fire and rescue services personnel arrived at the spot and put out the fire.
Several cars and vans that come for service to a workshop situated near harbour police station are usually parked under the Royapuram bridge.
When the patrol team attached to the north Beach police station was doing its routine rounds, it found several cars parked under the Royapuram bridge engulfed in flames.
“The fire and rescue services team was alerted immediately and they rushed to the spot and put out the flames,” the police said.
While three cars were completely gutted, two cars and a van were partially burnt. Some of the cars were left at the workshop for repair work.
Police, who inspected the area, said no suspicious persons were spotted while the vehicles were burning, this could be the work of anti-social elements.
The North Beach police has registered a case and is investigating.
