Unable to bear torture, TV actress attempts Suicide

The police arrested a TV actor’s husband on Tuesday after she tried to commit suicide by hanging herself as she could not handle his harassment.

Koyambedu police arrested Arun, 32, for allegedly torturing his wife Uma Maheswari, and driving her to suicide. “She had delivered a baby five months back. Arun and neighbours rescued and admitted her to hospital,” the police said.

Uma was staying in her parents’ house in Villivakkam after the child delivery. She had insisted that she would return to Koyambedu house only after five months.

“Arun, who is into selling computer parts, told his wife that he had met with an accident. She came rushing but found her husband all right.

This resulted in a fight between the two following which she tried to kill herself,” the police said. According to the police, Arun had been demanding gold and a house from her and even accused her of infidelity.
