Two on run after cheating 80 siddha docs

The city police is on the lookout for two persons who have duped nearly 80 people out of lakhs of rupees under the pretext of taking them to a world Siddha conference in Malaysia.

The accused, Anna Durai and Senthil Kumar, had placed an advertisement in newspapers recently offering to take Siddha practitioners to the Siddha conference in Malaysia commencing on Saturday.

Several people from around the state had got in touch with the duo and transferred Rs45,000 to their account.

However, when they came to Chennai on Wednesday to board their flight, they realised that the two had absconded with over RS50 lakh.

“They asked us to come and wait at a lodge in T.Nagar and took more cash from us for exchanging into dollars. We waited for several hours but they never returned,” said Mr Balasubramanian, who was duped by the duo.

As many as 60 persons lodged a complaint at the Mambalam police station on Thursday.
