TN to spend Rs 100 cr for new tahsildar offices
State revenue minister K.A. Sengottaiyan on Monday announced that the state government would spend over Rs 100 crore for constructing new tahsildar offices across the state.
The new facilities will come up at Chengalpet and Maduranthagam in Kancheepuram district, Palani in Dindigul district, Tirumangalam in Madurai and Jayamkondam in Ariyalur district.
The minister also announced that the state government would spend an additional Rs 70 crore for registrar offices functioning from rented places and shift them to new government buildings.
The government would also provide free pattas for 15,000 inhabitants residing in poramboke lands located in Chennai city.
To ensure better public facilities at all tashildar offices, the government has decided to spend to Rs 10 lakh for each tahsildar office and at least five taluks in a district will be benefitted under the scheme, the minister said.
Under the pilot scheme water coolers, lavatories, electric fans, information boards, disable friendly ramps would be set up to benefit the public visiting the revenue offices, he said. New vehicles will be purchased at a cost of Rs 20 crore.
Revenue courts for recovery of dues towards lease will be established in four places and for the purpose the state would annually spend Rs 60 lakh.
The special courts will come up at Lalgudi, Mannarkudi, Thirunelveli and Nagapattinam, the minister added.
