Teachers to be trained in life skill classes
In order to make teachers’ training on Life Skill Education Programme (LSEP) more interesting, the Tamil Nadu State Aids Control Society (Tansacs) has come up with a video on teaching methodology. Along with programme material kit, video CDs will also be given to teachers.
Every year, Tansacs, in association with state education department, organises training programmes for teachers who, in turn, conduct classes for Class 9 and Plus-1 students on life skill education that includes four sections: from childhood to adolescence covering understanding adolescence, physiological changes and mental and emotional changes; adolescent reproductive and sexual health; mental health and substance abuse and lastly, life skills and HIV and AIDS and prevention of the same.
LSEP in schools is conducted through the Directorate of Technical Education Research and Training (DTERT) to provide information on HIV/ AIDS transmission and also to impart life skills to students.
“A state-level training programme for DTERT members will be held in Chennai in the third week of August,” said Mr A.C Mohandoss, project director, Tansacs.
