Suicide attempt in front of CM’s house
Upset with the police for refusing to take action on his complaint about his missing daughter, a man arrived with a bottle of kerosene outside the gates of the Poes Garden home of the chief minister and threatened to set himself on fire Tuesday morning.
But Arul Das of Guduvanchery was caught carrying the bottle before he could injure himself and later told the police that all he wanted was to inform the chief minister that the police in his hometown were not taking his complaint about his daughter going missing seriously.
He said although he had gone to the police stations in Chengalpet and Guduvanchery asking their help in tracing his missing daughter, he was ignored by both.
“His daughter who was staying with him in their house in Guduvanchery , went to college in Chengalpet.
But she didn’t return home one day and since then he has been running from one station to another as the policemen simply paid him no attention ,” say city police quoting a distraught Das, who was later taken to the Teynampet police station and promised help in find his missing daughter before being sent back home.
