Students clueless about exam dates
Private candidates, who have already attended five-day classes at nearby centres, are clueless about the final dates and venues of the Class X practical examinations that will begin on Friday.
“I didn’t receive any information about final practical exams date and venue. I’ve attended classes. What if I didn’t get a hall ticket to attend practical exams?
I contacted the official concerned but they did not respond,” said Afroz Fathima, a private candidate who attended practical classes at a government school in Purasawalkam.
This is the first time that Class X students will appear for practical examinations under the common school syllabus.
Practical examinations carry 25 marks, while the remaining 75 marks is for theory. Students have to do experiments in physics, chemistry, botany and zoology, for a total of 25 marks.
Another private candidate Farzana also complained that she didn’t get any information about practical exams.
However, an official of the directorate of government examinations said private candidates appearing for Class X practical exams could collect hall tickets from their respective district education offices.
“The exam venue will be the same place where students attended the practical classes,” the official said.
