Student injured in clash near Anna arch
A student of Presidency College suffered head injury and has been admitted to a private hospital on Wednesday after a group clash between students of two colleges took place in Aminjikarai near Anna arch.
“Deepak, a student of Presidency College was admitted to GH and later shifted to Apollo hospital. His condition is critical. He was injured while clashing with students of Pachaiyappa’s college on Wednesday morning,” the police said.
Nearly 40 students split into two groups, pelted stones at each other in which Deepak was seriously injured.
Students of two colleges have been engaging themselves in regular street fight over bus route rivalry in the last few weeks.
The police had already arrested few students from both the colleges when they were found carrying knives with them. On interrogation they said due to fear of attack from students of other colleges, they carry weapons to protect themselves, said the police.
The regular clashes between the students of the two colleges began after a group of students from Pachaiyappa’s college reportedly helped a group in Presidency College during college union election. “Since then clashes have become a regular feature,” a police official disclosed.
