Sleaze video drives student to end life

A polytechnic student in Tiruvannamalai district hanged herself on Monday evening after three youth secretly videographed her while she was taking bath and tried to sexually exploit her besides extorting money from her.

The three students had been harassing Akila, 22, of Melmanmalai village near Chengam in Thiruvannamalai, by threatening to would upload the video on the Internet.

Akila, a third-year student of polytechnics institute in Chengam, had left a suicide note saying that she was being harassed and threatened by the students, Vinod, Ezhil and Jagan.

“They had taken a video while I was bathing without my knowledge a few days ago. They told me that they will upload everything on the Internet if I do not do what they ask. I have been doing it for a while. I cannot handle this humiliation any more,” she said in the note.

The police said that the girl, in her note, had specifically said that the three were responsible for her death. “We are on the lookout for the three students mentioned in the suicide note by the victim,” the police said.
