Share capital for crop loans hiked
Chief minister J. Jayalalithaa on Thursday announced a 10-fold hike in the share capital towards crop loan meant for Adi Dravidars increasing it to Rs 2,500 from Rs 250.
According to an official release here, the chief minister also announced that this enhanced amount would be given as subsidy for Adi Dravidars to avail loans from the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Banks in the state.
The move would benefit about 40,000 Adi Dravidars and tribals and the chief minister has allocated Rs 10 crore for it.
This will help them avail loans up to a maximum limit of Rs 50,000, the release added. The release further stated that the state government led by Ms Jayalalithaa has been doing a lot for the welfare of Adi Dravidars.
The government has taken many measures to ameliorate their conditions, especially by framing appropriate policies for improving their well-being and programmes for achieving the objectives of creating favourable environment to ensure speedy socio-economic development of Adi Dravidars and tribals.
The major developmental activities for these communities are grouped under educational development, economic development, special component plan for Adi Dravidars and the tribal sub-plan for tribals.
