Rs 50cr allotted for industries centres in TN
The state government is in the process of renovating 21 district industries centres in the state besides construction of new buildings for 11 district industries centres operating on rented premises.
Announcing this at the CII- Regional MSME Conclave 2012, state rural industries minister M.C. Sampath said, “Chief minister Jayalalithaa has sanctioned Rs 50 crore to modernise all district industries centres with facilities such as internet kiosks, computer centers and video conferencing centers for the benefit of MSMEs in the state.”
The government is planning to create basic infrastructure facility to 100 clusters during 12th five year plan and also to set up 9 coir clusters across Tamil Nadu in association with Coir Board under SFURTI project (Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries) during this plan period,” he added.
To encourage investment in the MSME sector, the government has also reserved 20 per cent of land for MSMEs to set up industrial units in Sipcot industrial estates and 30 per cent for micro units in Sidco Industrial Estates, the minister said.
The government also provides subsidy for infrastructure development for private industrial estates, he said.
