Rajini fans club secretary files papers for Pudukottai bypolls
The district secretary of Rajinikanth Fans Association on Monday filed his nomination to contest in the Pudukottai assembly by polls as an Independent candidate.
However, Mr Sridhar, who is the secretary of the district Rajinikanth fans club since 1998, said he was contesting on behalf of Rajinikanth Fans Association. He has been associated with the fans club since 1983.
Speaking to reporters in Pudukottai, after filing his papers, Sridhar said he was yet to inform the head office about his nomination.
He said if he was allowed to stay in the fray by the headquarters, he would certainly secure a substantial support from voters because of the welfare measures his association had been carrying out over the years.
“We have been involved in various welfare activities across the district for quite sometime, which would certainly transform into votes. I am certain that we can secure more votes than DMDK’s candidate,” Sridhar added.
Stating that he had also got support of office-bearers of several other districts, Mr Sridhar noted that he was receiving calls from several places favouring his move. “They have expressed their willingness to campaign for me in the constituency,” he said.
Till now, five candidates including DMDK’s Zakir Hussain and ‘Election King’ Padmarajan (129th time) have filed their nominations.
