Rainy week expected in TN
Despite âpeakâ summer, the state is expected to receive rainfall for the next one week. âAlready 10 per cent of the weather stations in Tamil Nadu are receiving rainfall for the past few days,â said Dr Y.E.A. Raj, deputy director general of Meteorology, Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC).
He said there are chances of increase in rainfall in the next three to four days. âIt is normal for interior districts in the state to receive rainfall during summer. We can even expect some occasional rainfall over Chennai in the next few days. It could be in the form of thunderstorms,â he added.
Dr Raj further noted that the temperature has so far behaved well this summer despite the first two days of âKathiriâ recording higher temperatures.
On Thursday, Nungambakkam observatory registered 34.5 degree Celsius, while the Meenambakkam weather station recorded 36.5 degree Celsius.
Residents of Arakkonam reported to have witnessed hailstorm at 4 pm on Thursday. âThere wasnât much rain. But when it rained, there was hail too,â said R. Philip of Arakkonam.
