Question bank for class 10 in demand
Despite the scorching sun, parents and students queued up to buy class 10 question bank at the DPI campus on Tuesday.
With only a few weeks left for the class 10 board examinations, there has been a sharp increase in the demand for question bank with model question papers.
Brought out by the parent-teacher association (PTA), the Tamil medium question bank costs Rs 135 and it’s Rs 130 for English medium. Surekha, who came to buy the question bank for her sister, said, “She is busy preparing for the exams and I thought this question bank will help her.”
“While four subjects - English, Tamil, Science and Social Science - are together in a book, Maths question bank is available as a separate book. The Maths book costs Rs 80.”
Karthika, a government school student, waiting at the sales counter, said, “We are clueless about the question paper as we are the first ones to write exams under the common school syllabus. My friend told me this question bank is very useful and so I came to buy one for myself.”
An official of the PTA said, “Our question banks are always in demand, but this time there’s an increase because of Samacheer Kalvi. Of the 50,000 copies we printed, 25,000 were sent to other districts and in Chennai, more than 20,000 copies have been sold.
We’ve placed an order for 50,000 more copies. More than 15,000 copies of question bank in Tamil medium have been sold in Chennai alone.” A schoolteacher said the question bank had five model question papers for each subject.
“The question bank will give a clear picture and the student will get an idea how the final paper would be,” added the teacher.
