The Chennai city police are hunting for a man who admitted to have sent more than 2,900 lewd SMSes to women, including police personnel.

The women in uniform were literally at the receiving end after wife of the prolific ‘sexting’ man lodged a complaint with the Tambaram All Women Police Station.

“Whenever we call him for inquiry he sends us obscene SMSes” said a policewoman.

“We are looking for one P.A. Ramakrishnan, 42, a graphic designer from Perungalathur for sending obscene SMSes to policewomen,” said a senior police official.

Ramakrishnan’s young wife Janaki, living separately, lodged a petition with the Tambaram All Women Police Station in the last week of June seeking help to restart her life with her husband whom she married in 2008 after a love affair.

Since then, the policewomen had been trying to contact Ramakrishnan over his mobile phone. “As he never picked up, we started sending him messages asking him to appear for an inquiry. In reply he started sending obscene SMSes to us,” said a police official attached to the police station.

A copy of complaint that was sent to the CM cell by Janaki, reached the Madipakkam All Women Police Staion for further action. When officials there tried to contact Ramakrishnan they also started getting lewd SMSes.

“It seems he had collected the mobile numbers of all the women working in the station and had sent obscene SMSes to all,” police officials said.

Based on complaints from the women police personnel, Madipakkam police had registered a case and are now on the lookout for him.
