People throng pool as summer rages
Chennai bore the brunt of the prevailing heat wave on Saturday with the soaring summer heat lasting well into the evening and making life tough even after sunset.
While Regional Meteorological Centre on College Road recorded a maximum of 41.5 degrees Celsius, motorists on Anna Salai were greeted by the digital temperature display board atop Tarapore towers reading 44.6 degrees at 1 pm on Saturday afternoon.
The weatherman explained the sun’s radiation, with heat from vehicles, would have been more on Anna Salai, resulting in the rise.
