Pay property tax at nationalised banks

Property tax payers in Chennai can now pay your taxes at eight nationalised banks.

Chennai corporation on Thursday signed MoUs with nationalised banks and the bankers will accept the property tax amount and issue a receipt for it.

The banks that have signed memoranda of understanding include Indian Overseas Bank, Canara, ICICI, Axis, HDFC, IDBI, Karur Vysa and City Union bank.

Through the online facility the bank would fetch the data from the corporation server and collect the due tax from assessee and the new system will come into effect from June 15.

After making entry into the online module of the corporation, the payment details will be upgraded in the corporation server, Ripon Building sources said.
