Paramedics spread awareness on ‘108’
Paramedics at GVK EMRI emergency services are on a mission to create more awareness about the 108 ambulance services and save as many lives as they can.
A group of medicos gathered in front of the Koyambedu bus stand on Monday and pasted pamphlets on autorickshaws with the aim of reaching out to the public.
Telephone lines of emergency services keep ringing off the hook, but the officials have decided to reach out to more people through awareness campaigns.
“Lots of people call us every time there is an emergency but there are some who are still not aware of our services. So we decided to reach out to them,” said an employee with GVK EMRI services.
A group of volunteers stuck pamphlets on several autorickshaws that passed by to spread awareness about the service.
“Most of the autorickshaw drivers co-operated with our idea and were willing to be a part of the campaign. The response for 108 is good in Chennai and we want to create greater awareness in the
outskirts,” said the employee.
