Now, get a building certificate promptly
Builders and public no longer have to wait to obtain completion certificates for new structures from Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA).
In a bid to avoid inordinate delays in issuance of completion certificates to buildings in Chennai and its suburbs, CMDA authorities have set a minimum deadline for issuing the certificates.
The move has come as relief for stakeholders since electricity and Metro Water connections can only be obtained after submission of the certificates. It would take upto several months to obtain the certificates.
Authorities swung into action a few months ago after grievances had poured in stating that there were delays in issuance of completion certificates resulting in newly-constructed structures lying idle for several months. “We have sorted out a few impediments causing the delay.
We have instructed officials concerned not to delay for more than 15 days if all the necessary documents are submitted,” explained a senior CMDA official. “We also conduct monthly review meeting for speedy disbursal,” he added.
There were a few glitches in issuance certificate to buildings, multi-storied buildings (MSB) in particular, which has now been set right.
Similarly, issuance of planning approvals has also been expedited and 221 special buildings were given approvals till May, 2012, while approvals for 431 buildings were issued during 2011.
As regards to MSBs, planning approvals for 37 buildings had been issued till May 31 this year, as against 39 buildings in 2011.
