Monorail panel finalises request for proposal docu
The stage for the final phase of Chennai monorail scheme tendering process was set on Wednesday after the empowered committee finalised the crucial RFP (request for proposal) document. Based on this, the five selected bidders will submit their financial bids.
“The specifications required for the developers to carry out the Rs8,500 crore-monorail project have now been laid after the empowered committee finalised the draft RFP. The decision was taken after a two-hour discussion in the secretariat on Wednesday evening,” sources in the empowered committee told DC. All members in the empowered committee including transport minister Senthil Balaji, chief secretary Debendiranath Sarangi, attended the meeting.
The draft report prepared by the Hyderabad-based consultant was placed before the committee, which had a detailed discussion on it and is learnt to have added a few specifications while removing a few.
The five bidders who had qualified for the final stage of tendering process – financial bidding- would be given the RFP document. Based on this, the five bidders will submit their financial biddings from which the developer will be selected. “The company that quotes the least amount and accepts to fulfill all the specifications mentioned in the RFP will be awarded the contract,” sources added. The five bidders would be given two months to submit their financial biddings. The developer would be finalised with in a few weeks after the submission of bids. The project is expected to take off in October or early November.
