MIT student falls to death from hostel’s fourth floor
An engineering student died when he mysteriously fell form the fourth floor of the hostel at Madras Institute of Technology in Chromepet on Thursday night.
Ram Prasad, 20, who was studying production technology, was a native of Dindigul and the son of a bank official Narayanamurthy.
The student fell from the fourth floor of the hostel though he was staying in room number 310, which is located on second floor, police said. It could be a case of suicide or accident, the police said.
“He was supposed to go for a industrial visit along with his classmates on Thursday night to Bengaluru. He told his roommates that he was going to an ATM to withdraw money. However, his roommates were later informed that Ram Prasad fell from the fourth floor. He suffered serious injuries and succumbed to wounds at government general hospital on Thursday night,” the police said.
“He had behaved normally with his friends. Nobody found him depressed. He had three arrear papers,” the police said on Friday.
“The fourth floor has a 3.5 feet-high parapet wall. It is difficult for somebody to accidentally fall. According to his friends, there was no need for Ram Prasad to go to fourth floor at that time,” police said.
