Man suspects infidelity, feeds wife poison
A man killed the woman he married after a love affair by feeding her tonic mixed with poison when he became suspicious about her fidelity.
The police arrested construction worker Anbu, 24, of Vaniymabadi in connection with the murder he committed in March 14 in Thiruvannamalai.
The murder came to light after the forensic experts in Chennai reported that his wife Uma died of poisoning.
Anbu had pretended that she had died a natural death and had buried her body without informing the police.
However, Uma’s mother lodged a complaint with the police saying that she suspected foul play in her daughter’s death. Following this, the administration exhumed the body and conducted tests.
“We got the report that indicated that her death was due to poisoning. So we questioned Anbu who confessed to the crime,” said the police.
According to Anbu, whenever he called his wife on her mobile, it was engaged. On March 14, when he came home, he found a youth walking out of the building. He then assumed that his wife was having an affair.
