Man kills girl in garment store
A 19-year-old salesgirl was allegedly murdered by her colleague inside a well-known readymade garments shop in Thirumangalam.
Murganandam, 23, slashed the neck of K. Bhavana, who was a resident of MG Nagar on Padi Kuppam Road, and then tried to commit suicide by slashing his own neck at 5.30 pm, shocking the customers.
The police, after the initial inquires with employees of Waves, where the two were working, said that Murganandam, who stayed in the same area as the girl, was frustrated because the girl had started avoiding him after many months of courtship.
“She was not only avoiding him, but had also started dating another colleague. This seems to have angered him more,” the police said.
The girl was reportedly having an affair with the same man before she started seeing Murganandam. A few weeks ago, she reportedly ditched Murganandam and went back to her former boyfriend, police sources said.
“There was a serious argument between the two on the ground floor of the shop for a long time. It seems he was trying to convince her to leave the other man but she was telling him that their relationship was over. This seems to have moved him to kill her,” a police official said.
“Murganandam took a pair of scissors and killed her. He then slashed his own neck also. He is seriously injured,” said police.
Bhavana died on the spot. Immediately after the incident, Murganandam was rushed to a private hospital. An employee of the shop informed the police of the incident.A police team arrived and took the body of the girl for post mortem.
