Man hacked to death in Tiruvannamalai
A man claiming to be a social worker and who had filed many public interest litigations against land grabbing in Tiruvannamalai district was hacked to death on Monday morning by a gang of men while he was returning home on his bike after purchasing milk.
The man was identified as Rajmohan Chandra, 53. He was murdered on Girvalam Road.
“The killers seem to have sprinkled chilli powder on his face. As he fell from the bike, the gang had hacked him to death,” the police said.
“It is true that he used to file lots of PILs. However, we have no information on his social activism. He used to claim that he was a lawyer but he has no degree or never was a member of a bar,” a senior police official said.
The activist was married to a nurse.Immediately after the incident, two persons named Murugan and Chandrasekharan surrendered in court in connection with the murder.
“We have to find out if he had any rivalry with any group. We feel it was a planned murder. We hope to crack the case soon,” the official added.
