Lorry agent held for death of 3 in hit-and-run case
The Kanchipuram police on Wednesday arrested a sand lorry agent in connection with the death of three persons on two motorbikes in a hit-and-run case on GST road in Chengalpet on Tuesday night.
Kuttikrishnan was driving his Mahindra Bolero from Tambaram to Mamandur when he allegedly knocked down N. Rajendran, 45, working for publication, Dinasuryan, and his friends T. Manivannan, 40, and Stalin.
“Rajendran and Manivannan were on one bike while Stalin was on another vehicle,” said the police.
“After knocking them down, Kuttikrishnan sped away without stopping and then hid the vehicle under a heap of hay,” police said.
Sleuths found the broken windshield of the vehicle at the accident site.
“We put the broken glass pieces together and saw ‘Saravanavel Murugan Thunai’ written on it. We made some inquries locally and found that Kuttikrishnan’s vehicle had similar writing on his Bolero. When zeroed in on him. Kuttikrishanan confessed to hitting the three,” the police said on Wednesday.
