Karthikeyan made Chennai corporation commissioner

The state government on Tuesday transferred corporation commissioner P. W. C. Davidar.

A state government order said the services of Davidar, principal secretary and commissioner of Chennai corporation, are placed at the disposal of Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd as its chairman and managing director. Civil supplies commissioner Karthikeyan will replace Mr Davidar.

The transfer was a surprise to several corporation officials as the non-controversial Davidar was working overtime to learn the expanded limits of the Chennai corporation and its various problems.

Nevertheless, new commissioner D. Karthikeyan has already served as the city corporation chief during the time of corporation expansion.

Karthikeyan also successfully conducted the corporation polls without much violence and poll-rigging complaints unlike the
past.
