She was among the beneficiaries given bank loans at chief minister J Jayalalithaa’s function at Kodanad on Wednesday. “I will buy a cow and sell the milk. And with the ATM card provided by my bank, I can draw money right here. This ATM is a big boon to us”, said Sinu, whose Toda hamlet is just ten minutes away.

“The ATM is serving not just the locals but also many tourists flocking here”, said M. Kaari, who runs a busy little hotel nearby. “It surely helps businessmen like me”. Locals are particularly happy learning that the Kodanad estate administration has given the land for the ATM and even built it from own funds for the benefit of the people.
