IPS trainee officer guilty: Cop
Probing the case of IPS trainee officer V. Varunkumar who allegedly betrayed an IAS aspirant G. Priyadarshini after promising to marry her, the assistant commissioner of police, Cyber Crime, Chennai has informed the Madras high court that so far during the course of investigation and with available records and statements, prima facie discloses offences of cheating, criminal intimidation, harassment of women, criminal breach of trust, dowry prohibition and cyber crime against him.
R. Vasundhara, assistant commissioner of police, Cyber Crime stated this in her interim status report filed before Justice M.M. Sundresh, who posted to July 13, further hearing of the anticipatory bail petition filed by Varunkumar.
Vasundhara, who conducted the investigation, in her report submitted that Varunkumar intentionally was unwilling to produce any materials and from his tone of reply and from the letter, seeking five weeks time, she was able to infer that the accused wanted to drag on the issue and destroy the material particulars.
So far she has done only a part of the investigation and the rest of the investigation has to be completed, as she has to collect the material evidence, examination of witnesses and the investigation was now under the crucial stage.
“The accused (Varunkumar) did not respect the order and did not extend co-operation, therefore the accused is not entitled to get the discretionary relief of this court”, the police officer added.
