Illicit affair cut short man’s life
The BJP activist, who was found dead in Koyambedu on Friday night, was killed because of his illicit affair with another man’s wife, the police said.
The police arrested two persons, including the husband of the woman in connection with the murder of Vittal, 37, a BJP activist from Chinamaya Nagar.
The arrested were identified as Sundarapandian, 35, and his friend Gangadharan.
The police is on the lookout for two more accused who were part of the four-member gang that hacked Vittal to death near a Tasmac wine shop behind Koyambedu market.
Sundarapandian, who runs a vegetable shop, had borrowed Rs 2 lakh from Vittal a few months ago. He had returned Rs 50,000, but not the rest of the money.
Vittal used to visit Sundarapandian’s house demanding the money and came in contact with his wife. The two became close and started having an illicit affair.
Recently, a few members of the public caught the two red-handed and locked them up in Sundarapandian’s house. Despite strong warning from her husband, the woman refused to sever her relationship with Vittal.
“The woman had even lodged a complaint with the police saying that her husband was harassing her on Friday.
When Sundarapandian came to know about it he initially wanted to kill his wife. But he decided against it thinking of his child and decided to eliminate Vittal,” police said.
Sundarapandian, along with his brother and friends, hired a car and went around with sickles looking for Vittal.
They spotted him near the wine shop where he was hacked to death on Friday night, police said.
