Heist drama to loot 6.5 kg gold busted, manager held

A manager of a private finance company was arrested for staging a robbery drama after he burgled 6.5 kg gold worth over Rs 1.5 crore from his office in Poonamalee on Sunday night. He had hidden the loot in a garbage bin in Avadi.

The arrested was identified as Sankar, manager of India Infoline Finance Ltd, and a resident of Avadi.
Sankar, 30, had initially told cops a masked man attacked him in office and took the gold.

However his lie was nailed within three hours after cops told him that nobody except him entered the office during the ‘robbery period’.

Cornered, he accpeted he had staged the robbery.

“The management had provided double lock safety in the office. One key was with him and another with his colleague, which he forgot to take home. Using the keys, Sankar opened the safe and took away the gold.”

“Sankar came to his office around 6 pm, went out at 7 pm and again came back to report the robbery,” police said.
