HC orders probe into boy’s death
The Madras high court has ordered a CB-CID probe into the case of a Class 11 boy going missing since October 15, 2011, after he allegedly developed a friendship with a Class 12 girl in Hosur.
A division bench of Justices K.N. Basha and P. Devadoss posted after three months further hearing of the HCP filed by Sushil Mandal, father of the 17-year-old boy and directed the ADGP, CB-CID, Chennai, to nominate a competent police officer not below the rank of DSP to take up further investigation in this case within 10 days.
The bench asked the inspector of police, SIPCOT police station in Hosur, on receipt of information from the ADGP, to hand over the entire records relating to this case within seven days and asked the nominated officer to take all efforts to expedite the investigation and file a final report within three months.
The police had on June 25 informed the court that it had traced the skeleton of the boy to Krishnagiri district and sent it for forensic analysis.
Ordering a CB-CID probe, the bench said that the petitioner had categorically stated that he had an apprehension that he may not get fair and unbiased investigation because of the interference of Rajkumar, the father of the Class 12 girl, a highly influential person who was working as central excise inspector.
It was further specifically stated that petitioner did not have faith in the investigation carried out by the inspector of police, of the SIPCOT police station.
In the status report by the inspector of police, SIPCOT police station, it was stated that the skull found in the lake was sent for superimposition test with a photo of the missing boy and it was reported from the said test that the deceased person would very well belong to the missing boy, the bench said.
