Got environmental clearence on multi-specialty hospital: TN
The state government on Monday informed the Madras high court that environmental clearance had been obtained for the conversion of the new secretariat building into a multi super specialty hospital.
Advocate general A. Navaneethakrishnan submitted that the environmental clearance had been obtained from the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority when a petition by advocate R. Veeramani, challenging the decision of the state government to convert the newly constructed Legislative Assembly/ Secretariat complex at Omandurar Estate into a multi super specialty hospital cum medical college came up for hearing before a division bench of Justices D. Murugesan and K.K. Sasidharan.
Senior counsel P. Wilson, appearing for the petitioner submitted that the earlier clearance was obtained for a particular purpose.
The State Environment Impact Assessment Authority has no power to amend the earlier clearance and allow the building for a different purpose, he said.
