Goldsmith injured in brawl, dies at CMCH
A 33-year-old man, who was admitted to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital with critical injuries after four men assaulted him over a drunken brawl a few days ago, died on Tuesday.
Police said Kabir, a goldsmith and resident of Kembatty Colony, had got himself admitted to the CMCH on July 29 claiming to undergo treatment for his injuries suffered due to a fall from his two-wheeler.
However, the doctors who treated him grew suspicious over the nature of his injuries, and informed the police.
During interrogation, Kabir had told cops that he was assaulted by a group of four men, who were known to him, while consuming liquor on the bunds of Ukkadam tank along with his friends. Following a drunken brawl, the four men assaulted Kabir and fled.
