Geriatric care gains momentum
With geriatric care slowly gaining importance in the city and exclusive clinics being established for the purpose, healthcare company Senior Care India launched its elderly assisted living services in Chennai on Wednesday.
The company, will be providing comprehensive medical and non-medical services to elders via a hotline, a first in the country.
Senior Geriatrician Dr V.S. Natarajan said, “Whether it is about getting a doctor, procuring a prescription drug or just catching up with a social event, one needs to just dial the hotline and Senior Care India personnel will be ready to help.
Add to it visual access and telemedicine, and you have an outstanding package of services ready to be delivered right at one’s home.”
The objective of the project is to provide relief to NRIs who work abroad and cannot be physically present with their parents all the time.
Speaking at the launch, Dr Mayilvahanan Natrajan, vice-chancellor of Tamil Nadu Dr M.G.R Medical University said, “ These days though children prefer to look for jobs abroad, parents are not comfortable leaving the city they have known all their lives.
Senior Care India is a novel concept, a service that’s required and in demand. They offer quality medical and non-medical personal care services to elderly people in the comfort of their homes.”
