Ford to give amenities to 7 villages
About seven village communities in and around Maraimalai Nagar will get a host of new amenities including special tutoring for government school students, life skills training for women and even good water and sanitation facilities in schools within a year. Courtesy: Ford Motor Company.
The auto major has decided to invest about $250,000 for improving villages around its manufacturing plant in the state as a part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives in India
“In the first phase we will be spending $125,000 on the four areas of our focus through three non-governmental organisations (NGO),” said Michael Boneham, president and managing director.
One of the projects include setting up 20 after-school tutoring centres near Ford India’s factory to coach government school students to improve their learning ability.
“The objective is to ensure that every child achieves basic knowledge in Maths, Science and languages to face the world with confidence,” said Balaji Sampath, secretary of Aid India.
