Experts to discuss swine flu measures
Chennai corporation will conduct an experts meet on swine flu in the city on Wednesday.
“Senior health and private officials will take part in the meet and discuss methods to create awareness about the disease and its incidence in Chennai,” said the corporation health officer, Dr P. Kuganantham.
Private practioners and senior consultants would participate in the event to discuss the incidence of the disease in Chennai.
An update on swine flu, the preventive measures in place to control epidemics, data sharing between the corporation health department and private hospitals will be the key issues discussed.
Strategies would be chalked out to handle swine flu and a stock update on the drugs related to swine flu would also be done, he said.
“The civic body has been on an alert since swine flu cases were recorded and in Chennai steps are in place to prevent the spread of infection and adequate drugs are stocked at the corporation run communicable diseases hospital in Tondiarpet,” a corporation official said.
Several private hospitals do not share the details of patients who are treated for airborne contagious diseases and all these factors are also to be discussed, he said.
The medical officer also pointed out that there is no reason for people to worry about swine flu as it can be easily treated.
