Expect pleasant weather next two days
Active monsoon over Kerala, Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh has brought some respite to Chennaiites from the sweltering heat. The temperature, which lingered around 40 degree Celsius in the first week of June, dropped to 33 degree Celsius on Monday.
Even as the city witnessed drizzles in some parts throughout the day on Monday, Chennaiites will experience a pleasant weather for the next two days, as the regional meteorological centre here forecast cloudy sky with a maximum temperature of 34 degree Celsius for the next two days with possibility of rain in some parts of the city.
“Rough sea in the Bay of Bengal was owing to the active monsoon over Kerala, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. However, the city will witness cloudy sky only for the next two days and light showers may occur in some parts of the city and the state,” said a meteorological department official.
Meanwhile, a weather bulletin read: Strong offshore winds from south westerly to westerly direction speed occasionally reaching 45-55 Kmph likely to prevail along and off TN and Puducherry coasts.
